Individual skill
Repetition with purpose: handles, shooting mechanics, finishing, balance, and footwork.
Houston Youth Basketball
A Houston basketball program for 13U players committed to improving their skills, understanding the game, and competing as a team.
Our approach
Space City Hoops gives developing players a structured place to improve. Practices emphasize ball handling, shooting, finishing, footwork, spacing, defensive habits, and decision-making under pressure.
We want players to compete hard without losing sight of the habits that actually produce long-term growth.
Repetition with purpose: handles, shooting mechanics, finishing, balance, and footwork.
Read the floor, make faster decisions, understand spacing, and play effectively without the ball.
Defend, communicate, rebound, sprint back, accept coaching, and compete every possession.
Players learn accountability, unselfishness, confidence, and how to contribute in different roles.
Teams
Blue and White rosters create more meaningful repetitions, clearer roles, and room for players to grow throughout the season.
Two competitive rosters designed to give players meaningful minutes, defined responsibilities, and opportunities to move as their development changes.
When roster space allows, approved players may join selected practices or tournament weekends without a full-season commitment.
Weekly schedule
Practices are structured to combine skill work, small-sided play, team concepts, and live competition.
Coaching
Space City Hoops combines consistent program leadership with international playing and collegiate coaching experience.

General Manager
His priority is building a team environment where players receive honest feedback, understand their roles, and have the consistency needed to improve over time.

Assistant General Manager
He works with players to improve their habits, understand team concepts, and compete with confidence and accountability.

Coach Ignacio "Nacho" Menendez brings international playing experience and a player-first coaching philosophy to Space City Hoops. A native of Madrid, Spain, Nacho developed his game in one of Europe’s most competitive basketball environments before continuing his career in the United States. He played college basketball at St. Andrews University (NAIA) and later competed professionally in Spain.
Following his playing career, Nacho transitioned into coaching at the collegiate NAIA level, where he helped develop student-athletes both on and off the court. His coaching emphasizes skill development, basketball IQ, decision-making, and creating a competitive environment that prepares players for success at the next level.
